This project was all about the importance of art. We went through many exercises that helped us learn the importance of art and the fact that it’s meaning is left for viewers to perceive. Our piece of art explored the importance of peer pressure and the impact it has on young teenagers today. We know that a big part of peer pressure is pressuring to drink, smoke, Vape etc. we decided to take the struggles and turn them into a piece of art that will spread awareness. and leave impacts on audiences of all kinds. Our art piece was a white plain box with a mask facing inside. When you look inside the mask there’s a mirror reflecting on the face of the mask half of the mask is shattered and the other half has simple cracks. This represents that peer pressure is shattering who you are and the small cracks represent that who you are letting people pressure you to be is slowly taking over who you really are. When you look around the box is he smoked cigarettes, a Vape, a to do list full of things that are stressing teenagers out ,etc. Things that cause teenagers to feel the need to be like others and not to be themselves. Our explanation would leave people with their Jaw dropped. The feeling of someone being amazed by what you’re doing is the best feeling that you could ever have. As I’ve got the opportunity to see other groups creations it was amazing to see that There are so many amazing ideas that have blossomed into such beautiful things. Although other people had amazing projects I feel that ours stood out and left impact on people that when they went around they were just stuck thinking is this what people feel? Is this how peer pressure is impacting teenagers today? At the end of the day I was really confident in my participation and performance during exhibition at the Museum of Contemporary Arts San Diego. There were times where I stuttered and made a couple mistakes but I overcame that and still have a beautiful oral presentation. Through the ups and downs of this project, the peaks and valleys. It was amazing to know that our piece of art is going to be displayed in a museum as well as others. Opportunities that we receive like this are unforgettable.
Overall my oral communication was very well, I feel I was from a 90% to 100%. I showed clarity and organization of ideas, I was able to I see relevant and on the topic throughout the presentation. My ideas were always organized in a way that makes logical sense to the audience. I always gave references and ideas to help the audience Get a better understanding of what our project was about. I feel I was talking at a great slow, moderate pace so the audience could pick up what I was saying even over how loud it was. My volume was very well, I was able to speak loud when I needed to be and quiet when Necessary. Because the room was really loud the audience did h ave trouble hearing at some point but I would notice that and improve my speaking so that I can give them a better experience. Physically I was always making strong eye Contact with the audience and I had appropriate and professional posture, I only used gestures when necessary for pointing out important details on my project and my attire was exceptionally appropriate for the audience and purpose. I always avoided monotony in my vocal expression. I always use patterns of stress and innoation with a sense of reason with them effectively to engage the audience.
